Any and all information gathered from #GradStudentSlack and the Grad Student Slack twitter for any publication purposes must be appropriately acknowledged as coming from Grad Student Slack and it’s members. We expect participants to be ethical and responsible. This code applies to all participants on Grad Student Slack.Ĭompliance with the Law: All participants must comply with the laws. We also expect that all participants will treat each other with respect and equality in mind in order to ensure that this is a safe and fun place for everyone involved. Participants should avoid offending other members, participating in serious disputes, and disrupting the environment of our slack. We promote freedom of expression and open communication, but we expect participants to follow our code of conduct. Our Code of Conduct outlines expectations regarding participants’ behavior. Please read the code of conduct below before joining! So, please be careful with what you’re posting and remember that anyone on the page or in the channels can read it. We also want to remind you that although the site should be all graduate students, we can’t police everything that is posted. We appreciate all of the participation and support that we’ve gotten, but we would like this slack to be only grad students. Because of that, we’ve decided the slack should be strictly current grad students. There may be sensitive discussion between students, and we want the group to feel relatively free to discuss without fear of possible repercussions from advisors/PIs/etc. We really love the enthusiasm we’ve gotten on #GradStudentSlack! Our vision was to create a space for grad students to discuss common issues and victories, to connect with each other, and to have a fun place to express themselves. Slack will be set up so that additional channels can be added as needed. We have created the following channels (topics): general, grant writing, paper writing, comps/dissertation, social, cool stuff, mentoring younger students, and having a tough day. We hope this group will offer advice, solidarity, and a safe place to vent about your struggles. There are many up and downs throughout this time in our lives. We are a group of graduate students creating a place to support each other through the process of earning a Ph.D.
